"Enviably so, there are a few brands who defy all odds and make themselves heard loud and clear"
With such a saturated retail market, it's hard to get your voice heard over all of the noise.
Although, enviably so, there are a few brands who defy all odds and make themselves heard loud and clear. Read on to find out who they are and how they do it.
Madewell's tone of voice is ridiculously consistent, extremely entertaining and a pleasure to read, take for example this creative little beauty 'FYI, we just got lots of really good new stuff in'. How do they do it? It's clear they have one set of brand guidelines, which they stick to religiously. Their email marketing mirrors up identically to the homepage and product pages, creating a compelling, believable and streamlined campaign story every single time. With some added wit and a refreshing tone, their brand becomes infectious and makes the reader crave more. Bravo Madewell.
Neptune make and sell beautiful and bespoke homeware and decor. And when we say beautiful we seriously mean it. The same goes for their website and its wording. To start, when you are welcomed onto their site, you instantly comprehend the sort of brand they are: premium, creative and dedicated. Their copy throughout their website and emails tells a story about the designers and their consumers. The online journal paints the picture of the brand in such a conversational way, you feel like you're peeping through their own personal notes. Take a look at the top paragraph on this page to feel instantly cosy.
3. Time Out
If you haven't signed up to receive their brilliantly captioned emails yet, where have you been? A little snippet of their genius includes 'Ribbed for your pleasure' when referring to a London rib shack. Another favourite is 'Just A Bit Of Playful swinging' when referring to Swing dancing classes in Putney. With copy like this, they have masterfully managed to find the perfect middle ground between being seriously funny and really informative, which absolutely works to their advantage, and gets their emails opened. 5. The Raw Chocolate Pie Company
You have GOT to try these delicious morsels of heavenly goodness. This is a brand who are open, honest and welcoming, achieved mostly by their copy. Their tone of voice has a homely feel, whilst being jam packed full of useful information, and void of anything irrelevant or 'fluffy' - refreshing is an understatement. Once you've tasted their treats you won't bother reading their copy anyway, you'll be too focused clicking on 'Order More Now'. But seriously, they say it as it is and that's more than enough for us.
6. Chuckling Goat
Goats be warned - they are coming for your milk! This kefir goats milk brand has obviously spent a lot of time on their branding, packaging and quality of product. In every order they send out an easy-to-digest booklet with everything you need to know about their product, from benefits to how to consume it. They use clear copy with a warm undertone, free of too much scientific jargon, and with a passion you can feel popping out of the page. Here's an example of what we mean 'As you take the kefir to improve your skin, tummy and mood, there are things that you can do to maximise its powerful benefits.' Quite baaa-rilliant, right?
