Q. Felicity what makes PaperLove inc. unique? A. My experience working in the fashion industry for luxury British heritage brands where innovation is key has influenced the concept and ethos behind PaperLove inc. Thoughtfully named collections, designed colour palettes and exclusive hand-finished details are all aspects that contribute to the uniqueness of the brand. I am also passionate about quality and sourcing locally with all suppliers based near the PaperLove inc. studio. Q. So what inspired you to start PaperLove inc.? A. It has been a long-held ambition to run my own business and after moving away from 10 years in London it felt like the right time to embark upon an exciting new venture. Following the design and creation of my own wedding invitations last year, I was instantly inspired to take this new direction and build a wedding stationery brand. Q. Which other brands have you designed for and how has this helped you with your own brand? A. Most notably I have worked as a designer for Ralph Lauren, Dunhill and Mulberry; prestigious brands where innovation, quality and understanding your customer is essential. I have established a strong awareness of the design process as well as an appreciation of costings and marketing. Drawing on my experience and knowledge has been fundamental in setting up my brand. Q. Oh wow, we are big fans of Mulberry. What's been PaperLove inc.'s most notable achievement so far? A. This week PaperLove inc. reached page 1 on Google under the search term ‘luxury wedding invitations’; a phenomenal achievement considering the brands launch date was only 4 months ago. This success is down to a detailed marketing plan and learning the importance of SEO at an early stage. Q. Impressive work, SEO is a tricky one to crack. What else makes you tick besides designing luxury wedding stationery? A. Two of my greatest loves (except my supportive husband ;-) are music and travel. When I am not studio bound, you’ll find me exploring a new destination or dancing at a festival! Q. Who designed the creative and fun logo? A. Me! It is very important to establish a brand identity with longevity and meaning, especially in the design industry. When designing my logo, I wanted to create an image that was striking, modern, imaginative and timeless. Q. Do you have a favourite place to find inspiration? A. One of my favourite stores in London is The Conran Shop which is full of unique products and iconic designers. I always feel so inspired wandering around and it would be a dream to have my brand stocked there sometime in the future. Q. Words Do The Talking loves the Showcase wedding invitation set. What's been your most interesting custom order to date? A. I created a bespoke design printed on organic cotton paper with a hand-dyed fabric wrap. Working with the couple to achieve their perfect invitation and colour was really enjoyable and rewarding. The overall look beautifully complemented their modern rustic style English barn wedding. Q. Any tips and tricks you'd offer a new start up business/ idea owner at the start of their journey? A. Ensure you have a detailed business plan outlining your idea, market research, positioning, financial information and projections. As a new business owner, this was the first and most important step towards formulating my ideas into a sustainable and profitable business. For a predominantly online business, it is also a really good idea to write and link a blog to your website. By posting twice a week, you will find this to be a fantastic cost-effective marketing tool for organic growth. Here's PaperLove inc.'s blog on a guide to the perfect wedding lipstick and gloss. Q. Brilliant advice thank you. What's next for PaperLove inc.? A. Expanding the wedding stationery plus venturing into other stationery product and collections. I would also love to have a small boutique style store stocking greeting cards, prints and stationery accessories. Check out Felicity's beautiful wedding stationery collection here.
